Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on May 8, 2000 See Law No. 1248 (2) XVII-VII-19-2000 Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam Sankhya 23 of 2000. Under the Universities Act, 'Technical Education, including education, research and training in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Town Planning, Pharmacy, Arts and Crafts and such other programs and areas that the Central Government may, in consultation with all the India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) by notice in the Official Gazette declare.
