The main objective of the Department is procurement of grains like wheat and rice to the central pool. The Government of Punjab contributes about 50-60% in wheat and 40-50% of rice to the central reservation. All procurement operation is carried out by the Department alongwith other agencies such as FCI Procurement Markfed, Punsup, PAIC and PSWC. The coordination work is carried out jointly by the Department.
